Proposed changes to Arkansas state environmental regulations
could benefit Arkansas waste districts that dispose of or recycle
a high volume of waste tires.
The Arkansas Pollution Control (PC&E) and Ecology Commission
is studying whether to give money to districts based, in part,
on the number of tires they handle. PC & E is also considering
other proposals to amend its current waste tire rules including
increasing the number of tires that districts can store at collection
centers, creating a system to monitor waste tires and increasing
the waste tire fee from $1.50 per tire to $1.75.
