The Kentucky Cabinet of Natural Resources and Environmental
Protection is testing a waste tire program in five counties.
The agency launched the two-month pilot program in October and
will continue to track its progress throughout November.
The project provides a one-time opportunity for citizens and
some businesses to drop off their unwanted waste tires for free
at county collection sites. Under the program, contracted recyclers
will collect, transport, and process the tires. Kentucky officials
plan to take the program statewide in the years.
