STMC Posts Tdf Draft Specs On Web
The first draft of "Guidelines for the Use
of Scrap Tires as Tire-Derived Fuel," can be found on the
Internet at www.rma.org/tiresn.html Posted by the Scrap Tire
Management Council (STMC), these proposed specifications will
be submitted to the American Society of Testing and Materials'
D34.03 Committee - Thermal Treatment, to help define terms,
combustion characteristics, sampling and testing protocols for
tire-derived fuel.
Demand for
a more refined tire-fuel chip has increased in recent years, Michael
Blumenthal, Executive Director of STMC said. "While there is
a considerable amount of information about tdf, there are no documented
standards for size distribution, sampling or testing. We are confident
that the information included in these guidelines will help increase
the market for this material," he said.
The STMC is
seeking organizations and individuals to join a task force to
help create specifications for the guidelines.
